Gentle folks,

I have a 3480 cartridge from about 1990. It is in a VMFPLC2 dump/restore
format.

It was created on a VM system. The contents is mostly of nostalgic value.

I can offer two 3480 cartridges if you can somehow help me to get the data
off the cartridge.

Thanks

Cheers

George

George,

I highly recommend Data Conversion Services
(www.dataconversionresource.com) to anyone who needs any

kind of tape or cartridge loaded into their PC. They were able to read
my 6250 BPI tape which I had created in 1985 without a single error!

Did they ever make a 3480 type drive that could talk to a PC or workstation? At my second job out of school we had a box that could read a 3420/9 track in to a PC. We used it to transfer billing info from DOS/VSE to a Novell server. This was before TCP/IP and the tools that went with it were readily available on the mainframe side. I just remember it was slow as hell, but it was still more reliable than then the real 3420s we had. Those use to break down at least once a week.
