All,

ISPF Version 2.0 is now available for beta testing.

Highlights of Version 2.0 -

1) ISPF Table support for all 21 table service calls from TBADD to
TBVCLEAR, as well as TBDISPL. Both local and shared tables are
supported.

2) ISPCLIB is now fully supported, Clists no longer have to be in the
CMDPROC file to be available to ISPF.

3) The CONTROL SAVE, CONTROL RESTORE, and CONTROL LINE service calls
are now supported.

4) ISPF will now share variables with TSO Clist processing. This means
that if a Clist invokes an ISPF service such as DISPLAY, all the
variables in the Clist are available to ISPF processing as ISPF
implicit variables. In addition, Clist variables may be updated by the
ISPF service, and all implicit variables defined in the ISPF service
will automatically be available to the Clist as Clist variables after
the ISPF service ends.

5) The ISPF variable ZISPFRC and return codes from ISPF services are
now supported via the TSO Clist variables &LASTCC and MAXCC.

6) Many other minor fixes.

Let me know if you are interested, and I will send it to you.

Wally,

I would be very interested in beta-testing the new version. I am using your ISPF system as my primary user interface for the Herculse TK4- implementation I have.

Thank you,

Ron

This sounds interesting. I used ISPF extensively back in the 80's and
90's when I worked for IBM and wrote many applications to run under
ISPF. I would be interested in trying this version.

> >>
> >>
> >>
> >>
> >>
> >>
> >>
> >>
> >>
I think what you have is a CD with a collection of base products.

Go to my website for current TK4 which after extracting to a folder you
can run but read the included manual first.

Here is the addr : http://www.applewood.dtdns.net/files/

file is tk4-_v1.00_current.zip
<http://www.applewood.dtdns.net/files/tk4-_v1.00_current.zip>

This is at Update 8 and is current.

Michael,

myVM370 by Buddy Bell (Vintage Big Blue) is based on the VM/370 Sixpack V1.2 that was put together by, I think, Dave Wade.

Buddy also has a myMVS compilation, which is just the base MVS system as Vince notes.

I don't think you need someone local.

Just get TK4- from here:

http://wotho.ethz.ch/tk4-/

and you should be up and running in
about 10 minutes.

Then you can ask any questions you have
in this group. The above comes with a Fortran
and PL/1 compiler I believe.

Wally,

I would be interested in a copy to test.

All,
ISPF Version 2.0 is now available for beta testing.
Highlights of Version 2.0 -
1) ISPF Table support for all 21 table service calls from TBADD to
TBVCLEAR, as well as TBDISPL. Both local and shared tables are supported.

I would also recommend TK4- for getting started with Hercules and MVS.
Just download the *current.zip file and unzip it. Open a command prompt
window in the directory where you unzipped it and type "mvs.bat" and
away it goes. You will also need a TN3270 terminal emulator program.
Vista tn3270 by Tom Brennan is very good.

MVS is a very different animal from DOS/Windows/Linux or whatever you
are accustomed to.

Hi Wally,

Is it too late to be involved in looking at your v2.0 of ISPF? I would very much like to see it.

Hi, Wally,

I am very interested to learn more about this "ISPF" -- is it a "clone" of ISPF / PDF? What are the requirements to run it? Will it run on MVS 3.8J (TK3 or TK4 etc.)?

You can reply directly to me at mark _ s _ waterbury at yahoo dot com ...

Thanks!
