I looked up the error message, but the

Given that this is a z/OS message, not

TALLY!
I give up. I can't see that word in French,
German, Italian or Spanish.
Try English <G>

tal·ly
/ˈtalē/

noun

1. a current score or amount: "that takes his tally to 10 goals in
10 games" synonyms: total, score, count, sum
2. a label attached to a plant or tree, or stuck in the ground
beside it, that gives information about it, such as its name and class.

verb

1. agree or correspond: "their signatures should tally with their
names on the register" synonyms: correspond with, agree with, accord
with, concur with, coincide with, ... more antonyms: disagree, differ
2. calculate the total number of: "the votes were being tallied
with abacuses" synonyms: count, calculate, add up, total, compute, ... more

When I worked for ADR, we had a product called Tally-Ho. It read cards
in binary mode, and was used for vote counting, etc.

It is English where I could make no sense
of it, so went looking for other languages.

"Tally!" means what? Count up the
number of lines in the message?
It's a truly fantastic

I wonder why he asked for help rather than try different values for the
control unit type. Also I'm not sure how sensitive Hercules is to IOCDS
contents; i.e., Hercules might accept/ignore a mismatch that zOS wouldn't.

Hello!
Not really. The term comes from the (deplorable) fox hunts that the
English nobility engaged in. Then the term was applied by the RAF
pilots who saw their targets and would dive on them, with a cry of
"Tally Ho!". Especially the ones who went after the V1 missiles.
Also please include your full name on future messages.

However... this does not adequately explain why there's a big cloud of
koalas surrounding your place Paul.

Sorry. "Tally" refers to "Tally ho" which is what some pilots say when they
spot opposing or oncoming air traffic. It's meant to mean, "I see the
potential problem and will endeavor to avoid it."
To a later comment, I didn't try different values for the "cu=" parm as I
didn't know about the cu= parm.

Is that any worse than "Panda bear"? Or "Fisher cat" - most people are
not taxonomists, so they go by what they're familiar with, no matter how
incorrect.

Um, yes? I just looked up "Panda":

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_panda

and it is indeed a bear, so there's
nothing wrong with "Panda bear".

If you want to call koalas "koala marsupials",
that would be the equivalent of "Panda bear".

Wikipedia even points this out:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koala

"inaccurately, koala bear"

Or "Fisher cat"
I have no idea what that is, and
didn't look it up, as this discussion
is not about rare cats, it's about
a well-known animal and a well-known
disk type.

The goal is to get people "familiar"
with koalas as "koalas" or at worst
"koala marsupials" if you really must
do taxonomy on the poor animals,
and dispense with "koala bears",
which they are not.

After that is sorted out we can get
back to debating what the correct
taxonomy for the bunyip is.

Hello!
The best dressed bear-like animal, the panda, is closer to the
raccoon, then the bear. Since I within reason run things here I'm
willing to go along with it.

However.... Now there's a hoard of frustrated kangaroos as well.

Paul I suggest we move on to something else before it gets worse for
my wit. I should also mention that the koalas are also wearing protest
shirts for the local airline.
